Chetham’s International Piano Summer School

17 Aug — 28 Aug 2017

The Chetham’s International Summer School and Festival for Pianists has always been a ‘pianist’s paradise’ (Piano Magazine) with an incomparable faculty of nearly 60 of the world’s most glittering pianist-teachers.  Well over 400 participants and observers from literally every corner of the globe return year after year to Chetham’s in order to sample the course’s phenomenal range of musical riches, not least of which are the faculty concerts.

2017 celebrates the opening of The Stoller Hall with extraordinary recitals by legendary pianists such as Peter Donohoe, Artur Pizarro, Craig Sheppard, Vladimir Tropp and Einar-Steen Nøkleberg.  It closes with the Manchester Piano Competition, returning with Manchester Camerata as the orchestra for two evenings of wonderful concertos performed by its six finalists.

Also part of this year’s very special festival is a series of the complete Beethoven concertos, performed over two nights by illustrious soloists with Stockport Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Stephen Threlfall.
