Following up on previous successful A-Level study days, places are now available on a special study afternoon at Chetham’s School of Music: 2.30 – 4.30pm on Thursday 9 February. This is a wonderful opportunity for students studying the AS Level AQA specification, and their teachers, to investigate and experience Baroque music.
Our specially themed sessions are led by members of our Academic Music Department and accompanied by demonstrations from Chetham’s students. You can explore a range of themes including the role of the soloist, development of instruments and analysis of harmony, covering these set works: Purcell’s Trumpet Sonata in D major; Vivaldi’s Flute Concerto in D major, “Il Gardinello”; and Bach’s Violin Concerto in A minor.
The study day is free of charge, but these limited places and session options must be booked in advance so please request a booking form as soon as possible if you would like to take part. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Special offer: Study Day participants discount on tickets for the evening performance of Shostakovich Quartets 12 & 13 on 9 February – have your tea in Manchester and return for the evening programme! More details provided when booking.
