Having been Principal Flute with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales for four years, Katherine was delighted to be given the opportunity to take up the same position with the Hallé in 2004.
Despite the very demanding nature of the job, she also takes on regular guest principal work with many of the country’s leading orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and Academy of St Martin in the Fields.
In the midst of this busy orchestral career and no less demanding job as mum to three noisy boys, Katherine tries to devote as much time as she reasonably can to chamber music. She has performed at festivals and music societies across the country and in Europe, either as part of a number of well-known ensembles or in a solo capacity.
As a soloist, she has appeared with both the BBC Now and the Hallé performing works by Bach, Mozart, Poulenc and Saint-Saens.
