Pauline Newman

Pauline qualified as a social worker in 1976 and spent the next 35 years working in Local Government as a social worker, social work manager and senior manager.  She had Directorate level posts in Birmingham and was Director of Social Services then Children’s Services in Manchester from 2002 until her retirement in 2011. At that point Manchester had a positive Ofsted Inspection at Local Authority level and she felt it was the right time to move on.
Pauline worked in various part time capacities from 2011 to September 2014, including as Chair of Blackpool Safeguarding Children Board from 2012.  She has a strong background in safeguarding and serves on two school governance arrangements in addition to her roles as a governor and Chair of the Safeguarding Sub Committee at Chetham’s. She enjoys this voluntary activity and consider it to be a way of giving something to the community in which she lives.
Pauline enjoys living in Manchester and loves walking, travelling, cultural activities and seeing friends and family.
