What is an orchestra? What does it look like? Who plays in it? How does it work? Where does it live? Where does it get its music from? What happens when you hear it?
When his spaceship crash lands on Earth, Wally finds himself in an alien environment – one where weird-looking people are using pieces of metal and wood to make strange and beautiful sounds. Families and school groups are invited to join up with Wally and the orchestra to take a Short Ride in a Fast Machine, spend the Night on a Bare Mountain and, finally, find their way back to a galaxy far, far away.
We’re looking for musical explorers to join Wally on a voyage of discovery using some of the BBC’s Ten Pieces I, II and III. You’ll need your curiosity and your imagination as you meet The Stoller Hall Outreach Ensemble to learn all about the amazing orchestra and how it works.
We think children aged 6 and over will enjoy this concert the most. For younger children, we’ll be hosting free musical activities in the Atrium from 10.15am until around 10.45am. Bring your little ones to meet some of the players and hear their musical instruments before the voyage begins!
10.15-10.45am – Free musical activities for Early Years in the Oglesby Atrium
11am-12pm – Family concert in The Stoller Hall, recommended age 6+. Book your tickets below.
