This Woman’s Work

2019 marks fifty years of music – and also fifty years of girls!

Coinciding with Clara Schumann’s bicentenary year, it’s a fitting moment to celebrate the vital role of women in music, as performers, teachers, learners and particularly as composers.

This Woman’s Work  runs from November 2018 – with the world première of Carpe Vitam, a new film marking the centenary of women’s right to vote, with music by Laura Rossi performed by Chetham’s Chamber Choir – until March 2019, when events around International Women’s Day will include music by Clara Schumann, Sally Beamish, Nicola LeFanu and emerging female composers. There’ll be masterclasses, discussion and learning opportunities, and concerts by the Albany Piano Trio and other women artists, and, as ever, involvement from current and former students of Chetham’s.
