Violin – Viola – French horn
Dittany joined Chetham’s in Junior C in 1969, one of the first girls in the school and the only Junior boarding girl for her first year. A player of violin, viola and French horn, she was primarily thought of as a horn player at Chetham’s and played third Horn in the orchestra and wind ensembles.Her fondest memories are of her Chets family.
After school Dittany focussed on viola, becoming Associate Principal viola of Sydney Symphony and Co Principal of the Australian Opera. Later she played as Sub-Principal of the BBC Symphony Orchestra until 1999. Today, she teaches violin and viola in the Cotswolds, and works in antiques, specialising in 18th century English porcelain and Chinese porcelain.
