The summer of Chetham’s 50th year is a time for special celebration. Almost every student in the School has an opportunity to perform, as we bid farewell to Year 13 pianists in the Piano Leavers’ Concert, applaud Sixth Form Singers in the Vocal Concert, and hear innovative new works by emerging musical voices as Chetham’s Composers move into The Stoller Hall to write for larger ensembles.
Younger students and smaller departmental ensembles perform in Chetham’s Sinfonia and Ensembles concert on Monday 1 July, before we reach the climax of the entire year on Friday 5 – Mahler’s magnificent Symphony No. 8, performed by Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with guests from across the world. Join us at The Bridgewater Hall or live on BBC Radio 3 for the unsurpassable Symphony of a Thousand, which is also a chance to say farewell to Stephen Threlfall in his last major concert as Director of Music.
