Domestic Porter

Hours –  A total of 37.5 hours per week, with 7.5 hours to be worked daily, between 7.30am to 6pm. Hours to be arranged in consultation with Domestic Management, with appropriate notice given.

Some weekend work will need to be undertaken with appropriate notice.

Salary –  £8.21 per hour

We are looking for a new member of our Domestic Services Portering team. You will be responsible for ensuring that an efficient and high quality domestic portering service is provided at all times, to all areas of the school. This position does require a high level of physical activity. The successful candidate should be used to working in a physically demanding role.

Other duties and responsibilities include assisting in departmental moves within the School premises, including relocation of furniture, fixtures and fittings along with some cleaning duties across the School.

Experience in Audio/Visual set ups would be an advantage. Training will be provided if not A/V proficient.

The successful candidate should have experience of working in a similar/busy domestic environment.

Head of Vocal and Choral Studies

Chetham’s School of Music seeks an accomplished singer, performer and leader who will enable our vocal studies students to reach the highest standards and encourage a uniformity in zeal, excellence and ambition amongst colleagues in a thriving vocal department.

This is a new and exciting role aimed at securing Chetham’s as the foremost destination of choice for young singers who aspire to a successful portfolio vocal career. We seek an inspirational figurehead and a well-respected singer who possesses outstanding skills as a performer, teacher and choral director within a professional setting.

The Head of Vocal & Choral Studies will have significant experience and understanding of the international/national musical landscape. He/she will prove an exceptional singing teacher, with a particular interest and passion for the healthy development of young voices, and a choral director, with the creativity and ability to map an exciting and educationally relevant programme of musical activities, repertoire and performances that promote outstanding student progress, vocally and chorally.

Hours – Initially, we envisage this role to enjoy a fixed term, two academic year contract for up to two days a week, term time only, with flexibility to meet the needs of our developing vocal and choral programme. Consequently, this is an attractive role for any professional singer and choral director who wishes to nurture young talent alongside a successful performing career.

Instrumental Tutor – Double Bass

Hours Initially anticipated as 1 day of teaching, 6-9 hours per week (term time only). Candidates will need to be flexible with regard to hours

We are seeking a Double Bass tutor with a high level of instrumental expertise and a broad range of teaching experience at the highest of standards (both 1-2-1 and ensemble tuition). Maintenance Decorator/Handyman

Hours – Full time, 37.5 hours per week
With additional un-rostered and rostered overtime. Flexibility to cover 7-day shift rotas essential.

Salary – £19.911 pa

We are looking for a general maintenance decorator/handyman to help maintain the school buildings and grounds both internally and externally; decorating/painting/tiling/plastering etc.

The role will include:

  • General maintenance tasks and assistance with minor repairs to school vehicles;
  • Driving school minibus as required (once D1 test undertaken); and
  • Security cover at times when additional security is required.

Accompanist

Hours – Full time

We are seeking a pianist with high levels of expertise as both accompanist and performer, and with strong organisational skills to join our Accompaniment Department.

Candidates should be flexible, committed and be able to work as part of a team. Some limited work during weekends, evenings and holiday periods will be required.

Maintenance Mechanical Pipe Fitter/Plumber
Maintenance Mechanical Pipe Fitter & Ventilation

Two roles
Full time
– 37.5 hours per week, with additional rostered and un-rostered overtime

Salary – £24,507 pa

We are looking for time-served, fully qualified and experienced Maintenance Mechanical Pipe Fitter/Plumbers.

Experience of ventilation systems would be desirable.

Candidates will be qualified to City and Guilds 6192-02 as a minimum, and have served a recognised trade apprenticeship in the disciplines required. Gas Safe registration would be desirable but not essential as the School can provide training.
