In an exciting first (but we hope not last!), Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra visited Crompton House School on 19 October. Students at the Oldham school experienced a live, full symphony orchestra performance of extracts from Modest Mussorgsky’s much-loved Pictures at an Exhibition. They made the most of their meeting with senior musicians from Chetham’s and conductor Paul Mann, with lively questions and responses to the music and musicians. Many thanks to the staff and students at Crompton House, to Paul Mann, and of course our Symphony Orchestra, for making this unique event possible.
This outreach performance preceded a full public performance, arranged by Maurice Ravel, at the Royal Northern College of Music on Thursday 20 October.
