A chance for former students from across the last fifty years to come together in song, rehearsing choruses from Carmina Burana for an informal sharing with family and friends.
Open to Chetham’s students, staff and parents, past and present, we’re inviting everyone in our extended community to begin our 50th anniversary year in harmony. On Saturday 19 January, you’re invited to join us from 12.30pm for the afternoon of our Open Day to look around the School at your own pace, and then we’ll arrange drinks and nibbles once the Open Day comes to a close.
On Sunday morning it’s back to school, where Director of Music Stephen Threlfall will lead the group in rehearsal. At around 3.30pm, any non-singers, family and friends can be invited along for a very informal performance and closing drinks.
Partners and family members of any age are very welcome at any part of the weekend. Those involved in the rehearsals should be able to read music, although it’s fine if younger participants need a little assistance from you.
Pianists and percussionists, let us know if you fancy accompanying; singers, volunteers for the solo lines would be welcome.
Saturday 19 January
Alumni are invited to attend the Open Day from 12.30pm, and to join us for welcome drinks at 2.30pm. There’s no need to register separately for the Open Day, but it would be useful to know roughly how many of you will be there for drinks – you can get in touch on firstname.lastname@example.org
If you’d be interested in being part of our 50 Portraits series, photographer Sara Porter will be with us on Saturday and is keen to photograph former students in interesting areas of Manchester. If you’d like to take part, let us know when you’re available and we’ll arrange a schedule.
In the evening, our partners are offering discounts for Daphnis et Chloé at The Bridgewater Hall, and for dining at Alston Bar and Beef in the Corn Exchange. Register to receive further information on these offers.
Sunday 20 January
We’ll be opening up the Stoller Hall entrance on Hunts Bank from around 9.30am to register, warm up and start the rehearsal.
