Since forming in 1972, the Brodsky Quartet has performed over 3000 concerts across the world. A natural curiosity and an insatiable desire to explore has ensure the quartet a rich and varied musical existence, whilst its energy and craftsmanship has attracted numerous awards and accolades worldwide.
The quartet is joined by celebrated North West pianist Martin Roscoe for an all-Elgar programme. This trio of works, all composed in 1918, were amongst the great composer’s last, and enjoy rich Manchester connections. The Quartet was written for an earlier Brodsky Quartet following a meeting in the city; whilst the Quintet is dedicated to Ernest Newman, then critic of the Manchester Guardian.
