Programme

Terry RILEY In C
Steve REICH Music for 18 Musicians

Steve Reich’s “Music for 18 Musicians” is nothing less than the Mount Everest of American Minimalism.

In this one-off performance, Manchester Collective are joined by players from Chetham’s School of Music to perform this extraordinary work. Reich’s music is vibrant, life affirming, and effortlessly modern – “Music for 18” is an unforgettable work to experience in concert, and a notoriously difficult piece to perform. Together with Terry Riley’s masterpiece “In C”, this programme will push its performers to the edge.
