Part of our Sounds of Nature programme

‘What a concert! It remained in my mind as one of the high points of the festival’ – Marina Mahler, granddaughter of Gustav Mahler

An immersive audio-visual experience for all ages

An Orchestra for the Earth concert is a totally unique experience. Combining musical performances of the highest calibre with talks, videos, art and photo exhibitions, and more, they connect audiences around the world with music and nature.

Music and the environment are inextricably linked, with composers throughout history taking inspiration from the power, beauty, and endless variety of nature. OFE concerts reunite the two, creating a new and special way to hear music that we all love, and to think about the natural world that we all must protect.

Each piece will be introduced by the Orchestra’s Artistic Director who will share the story of each composer’s special relationship with the Alps, how the landscape and nature finds its way into the music, as well as their conservation projects in the Alps.

OFE unites some of the finest young professional musicians and contemporary composers across the UK, with a commitment to “protecting the world their generation will inherit and using music to motivate others to do the same”.

In 2020 the orchestra made headlines when they performed Mozart’s Serenade No. 10 at Delabole Wind Farm to mark Earth Overshoot Day.
