Chetham’s School of Music is a warm, friendly place where happiness and wellbeing come first, and the same is true of the Chetham’s Summer School!
Students will be in the care of an expert and friendly Pastoral Team who will be at the very centre of the course, taking care of all the needs of the participants outside of rehearsals. Trained to help students tackle things like homesickness and get the very best out of the course, our Pastoral Team will help to make sure that participants enjoy the week they spend at Chetham’s.
All participants with a residential place will stay in one of our purpose-built boarding houses onsite, sharing rooms with other course members. As well as shared bedrooms, our boarding houses all have leisure spaces with things like TVs, games consoles, and physical games to play with friends. Students will be supervised in the boarding houses by members of our Pastoral Team and will always be aware of where to go if they have a problem at any time of day or night.
Meals will be provided to students by Sodexo, our onsite catering company. Non-residential students will only have lunch and dinner with us, while residential participants will receive breakfast as well. A wide range of food will be provided, including vegetarian and vegan options. If you have any specific dietary requirements, we can pass these on to Sodexo who will provide a suitable alternative option where needed.
Our Pastoral Team will organise fun activities for all participants to take part in when not in rehearsals to ensure that students mingle with other course participants and enjoy their free time as much as possible. These activities may range from sporting activities, such as dodgeball and rounders, to creative activities such as Ceilidhs, Cabarets and Treasure Hunts!
