Suitable for ages aged 9 to 17 (grade 3 standard or above)

Free, pre-booking required.

Open to all young brass and percussion players aged 9 to 17, come and join us for a full day of masterclasses, ensemble playing, and lively group discussions, led by a friendly, specialist team of Chetham’s tutors, students, and professional musical guests.

Along Chetham’s staff, we will also be joined by some of the most exciting brass players and percussionists working in music today. The Academy Day team will include:

Trumpets and Cornets: Jamie Smith* (Geneva Instruments Artist, Grimethorpe Band principal cornet)
French Horns: Elspeth Dutch** (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra section leader, tutor at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire)
Trombones: Katy Jones (Hallé principal trombone, senior tutor at the Royal Northern College)
Euphoniums, Baritone and Tenor Horns: John Storey* (Geneva Instruments Artist & representing the Royal Corps of Army Music)
Tubas: Les Neish (Besson Artist and international soloist)
Percussion: Matthew Brett** (Royal Liverpool Philharmonic section leader)

SCHEDULE AND BOOKING INFORMATION

From 10am – 4pm, the packed day will include classes for trumpet, trombone, tuba, euphonium, horn and percussion, including the chance to play in a massed brass and percussion ensemble.

Suitable for players of the following instruments: Trumpet and Cornet, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Euphonium, Baritone and Tenor Horn, and Percussion.
