Pianists from Chetham’s School of Music perform Messiaen’s full Catalogue d’Oiseaux, or Catalogue of Birds, in an extraordinary day of concerts.

The remarkable work for piano solo consists of 13 pieces, divided into seven books. It is the longest, and often said to be the greatest, of all Messiaen’s piano works.

The fiendishly difficult piece creates an evocative sound picture of individual birds and their calls.

The day will be broken into four concerts, beginning at 11am. Your ticket gives access to all four concerts. Audiences are welcome to join performers for all four concerts, or dip into any individual concert(s).
