Barbara Grunthal was a pupil at Chetham’s before going to the Royal Northern College of Music where awards from the Royal Society of Arts and the Guinness Foundation also enabled her to continue post-graduate study with Ralph Kirchbaum.
She began teaching at Chetham’s and the RNCM Junior Department soon after leaving college and also works as a freelance orchestral and chamber musician, playing with most orchestras in the North West.
Barbara is a member of Manchester Camerata and Northern Chamber Orchestra and as well as a busy performing and teaching career, she enjoys being involved in orchestral outreach work, giving workshops in primary schools throughout the North of England.
