New Assistant Principals Appointed

We are delighted to announce that Julia Harrison and David Chatterton have been appointed as Chetham’s School of Music’s new Assistant Principals, from September 2020.

As we say a fond goodbye to Alun Jones this summer, after four highly successful years as Principal, David and Julia will provide added continuity and leadership, working alongside our new Joint Principals, Nicola Smith and Tom Redmond.

Julia joined Chetham’s in 2013 after working in a number of schools in the UK and abroad. Initially appointed Head of English, latterly she has also been Head of Sixth Form and Careers.

David has led the Brass, Percussion and Jazz departments at Chetham’s since 2002 and has helped develop, over many years, a range and excellence of provision typical of music as a whole in the school.

David and Julia are the perfect people to assist Nicola and Tom in taking Chetham’s forward, alongside all in the school, and further grow our nurturing, dynamic and stimulating environment.
