This summer we are opening our doors for three new Open events, aimed at young musicians considering applications to Chetham’s in 2019 and beyond.
Each session lasts two hours, and is based around the interests of different age groups within the school.
You’re thinking of visiting our Secondary Open Evening, aimed at families considering applications for entry into Years 7-10.
During the evening, you’ll start off by meeting key staff and current students in an informal drinks session and an initial conversation about the school. Then, young people can choose whether to stay with the adults to talk in more detail about the curriculum, wellbeing and the application process, or to join staff from our Outreach and Music teams in an informal music workshop alongside current students. The workshop’s designed to create a space to enjoy making music and to chat to other young people about their life at Chetham’s – we know you may be some way off an audition, and you wont be assessed in any way during the session.
Parents and prospective students will be in neighbouring spaces and may come and go as required. Before the evening’s over, young people will have made some new friends and created music to show off to their families – and you will all have had chance to learn more about what Chetham’s has to offer, and how we balance an unparalleled music programme with the academic curriculum up to GCSE, whilst supporting children as they grow into young adults – whether as day students, boarders, or a mixture of the two.
