Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Chetham’s School of Music is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for our internationally renowned specialist music school located in city centre Manchester.  Chetham’s is a magical place, home to the UK’s largest specialist music school, the oldest library in the English-speaking world and a world-class concert venue all in the heart of Manchester.

The Job

  • We are looking for a committed, flexible and enthusiastic HLTA to join our Learning Support Department, working as part of a team with the Head of Learning Support, the Assistant Head of Learning Support and two part-time teaching assistants.
  • This is a varied and rewarding role, combining in-class support with targeted learning support, as well as opportunities to lead learning at KS2 and KS3.
  • This is a full-time, fixed-term contract from September 2026 to July 2027, term-time only.

In return

  • Salary SCP 16, £20,600.04 per annum (£27,635.62 FTE)

Teacher of Music and Sixth Form Music Coordinator

The job

  •  This a full time, permanent role suitable for experienced, qualified Music Teachers. Start date September 2026.

This role offers an exciting challenge involving the chance to shape the curriculum of the future of academic music at Chetham’s. We currently offer A Levels in Music and Music Technology and are looking to possible future qualifications.  You will work in a stimulating and dynamic department with brilliantly diverse colleagues and exceptional students.
