School Counsellor (Maternity Cover)

Chetham’s School of Music is seeking temporary Maternity Cover, to join our friendly Medical Team to deliver an efficient and high-quality mental health care service for our students and Staff.

The job

  • Our School Counsellor is required during term time only.
  • This is a 12-month maternity cover contract.
  • The position is for approximately 9 hours over 2 days each week.
  • Flexible working hours are required during this time to meet the needs of our Students and Staff.
  • We are looking for a mental health practitioner who can deliver a variety of therapeutic sessions to support individual students and staff.
  • We are also looking for someone who is confident promoting positive mental health, wellbeing and resilience through a variety of topics for our school community. This may be in small group sessions or larger events like assemblies.
  • Liaison with parents and staff within confidential boundaries is essential.

In return

  • You will be paid SCP 24, £5,922.55 per annum (£34,219.64 FTE).

Housekeeping Manager

Chetham’s seeks a full time Housekeeping Manager to lead the team to ensure the provision of an effective, high standard service to Chetham’s.

Located in the heart of Manchester, Chetham’s is a truly magical place. It is home to the UK’s largest specialist music school, the oldest public library in the English-speaking world, and The Stoller Hall – a world-class concert venue. Together, these form a unique centre of musical excellence, heritage, and learning.

The Role

  • The role is 35 hours per week, some flexible working, with occasional evenings and weekends
  • The purpose of the role will be to provide an efficient, pro-active and organised domestic, cleaning and operational service to Chetham’s.
  • Leadership and management of the team of Domestic Supervisors, Team Leaders, Porters, Laundry staff and Domestic Assistants in the day-to-day delivery of cleanliness and hygiene across the school will be required with the support of the Deputy Housekeeping Manager.
  • The team works year-round, Monday to Sunday.

Development Officer

We are seeking a highly organised and motivated Development Officer to join our ambitious Development Team to support fundraising, donor stewardship, cultivation and events across Chetham’s School of Music, Chetham’s Library and The Stoller Hall.

Located in the heart of Manchester, Chetham’s is a truly magical place. It is home to the UK’s largest specialist music school, the oldest public library in the English-speaking world, and The Stoller Hall – a world-class concert venue. Together, these form a unique centre of musical excellence, heritage, and learning.

The Role

Working closely with the Senior Development Manager and Development Manager, you will help deliver a programme of events and stewardship activity designed to ensure our supporters and alumni feel valued and inspired. You will play an important role in supporting the Development Team.

Through donations, Chetham’s supports a wide range of impactful programmes and projects, including:

  • Providing bursaries for talented students who would not otherwise be able to attend Chetham’s (90% of our students receive financial support, with around 20% paying no fees at all)
  • Delivering creative engagement work with families, schools and disadvantaged communities
  • Safeguarding our medieval buildings and protecting the priceless collections of Chetham’s Library

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting fundraising campaigns, events and stewardship activities.
  • Supporting the continued growth of our Bursary Fund.
  • Administering a new Patrons’ scheme as part of a major capital development to increase access to Chetham’s historic Library.
  • Using Spektrix CRM and donations channels (Goodbox, Donor Debit) to record and report on philanthropic income and relationships with donors.
  • Supporting the growth of our donor base and increasing donations from existing supporters.
  • This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week.
