One of the few of its kind in the UK, Chetham’s Vocal Course focuses on all aspects of singing for students aged 14-17 years old of an intermediate to advanced level. Suitable for all singers who have experience of choral and solo singing, the course will engage singers in a wide range of vocal activities led by staff from the Chetham’s Vocal Department.
As well as developing their individual vocal skills, singers will study song interpretation, foreign language pronunciation, drama and movement. In addition to solo performance classes and one-to-one singing lessons, students will receive practical advice for good vocal health alongside an introduction to vocal anatomy. Singers will finish the week-long course with a greater confidence in their own abilities as vocalists.
As part of Chetham’s Summer School, singers will also have opportunities to interact with participants on the orchestral and piano pathways in course-wide activities, furthering developing their skills as well-rounded performers through engagement with other musicians and live music making.
‘Every day at Chetham’s Summer School was very well planned and organised. I truly loved my voice classes.. Also, the atmosphere in the school was very friendly, not only between teachers and pupils, but also among students. After classes we had different fascinating activities that perfectly complement the educational process’ – Vocal student
‘…she was happier and more confident than she has been in years. It wasn’t just the music, excellent teaching, fun and care… Chetham’s facilitated an important week of self-discovery and growth for my daughter’ – Vocal parent
