‘Stunning’ – The Times on Jess Dandy
The next performance in The Manchester Chamber Concerts Society series sees the return of their Artistic Director and pianist Martin Roscoe, alongside contralto Jess Dandy.Â
Likened to Kathleen Ferrier by The Times, Jess Dandy is a name to watch. The Cumbrian born musician has been praised for her artistic maturity in recent performances such as The First Night of the BBC Proms and Wigmore Hall recitals, alongside some of the genre’s finest conductors, Jess is co-founder of the mental health initiative, SongPath, which encourages creative and restorative connection on therapeutically curated musical walking trails in beautiful surroundings. A love of nature and walking in the Lake District has strengthened the special partnership Jess has with Martin, who is unarguably one of the UK’s finest and most popular English classical pianists.Â
Their shared love of the English countryside is reflected in their programme, with English music celebrating the natural world from Vaughan Williams alongside American and European composers including Beach, Strauss and Ravel.Â
