The theme of the concert is Chinese and Korean vocal art songs. Chinese songs are mainly arranged from Chinese traditional ancient poems, folk songs of ethnic minorities and modern works. Korean songs are mainly selected from modern lyric works. All works will present with soprano and piano accompaniment. The sequence of the program will be based on the day of the performance.
Hailu Ni, a soprano from China, is currently a second-year PhD student in Musicology at the University of Manchester. She completed an MA in Music Performance Studies at the University of Sheffield. She has actively participated in various competitions and achieved excellent results. For example, she received the third prize in International Music Competition ‘Salzburg’ Grand Prize Virtuoso in 2020; the first prize (voice) in the International Music Competition Brussels ‘Grand Prize Virtuoso’ in 2019 and so on. She has successfully held individual solo concerts and performed in China, Britain, and Japan. Hailu, a dedicated and passionate soprano with an enchanting voice, invites listeners and performers alike to experience the beautiful melodies and poetic texts of songs.
Yidong Lin, a young pianist from Canton, China, and currently a PhD student in Musicology at the University of Manchester. He won the first prize of individual music all-round award from the Ministry of Education of China in 2018 and graduated with First Class honours from the University of Melbourne in 2021 to further his development as a wonderful musician. He has participated in more than 150 concerts, including 6 solo concerts, which gives him a wealth of performance and accompaniment experience.

Xinyu Wu, a young soprano from Zhejiang, China. She is studying for a MA in Musicology at the University of Manchester. She graduated in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree from Xinghai Conservatory of Music in China, where she was repeatedly honoured with a ‘triple-A student’ and was awarded both first and third class scholarships. She was recognised as excellent in music and cultural matters in Zhejiang Province, China in 2022. She began training in voice singing at an early age and has a wealth of experience performing on stage.
