Join us for a FREE, one-day event for young woodwind players, aged 9 – 17 (from grade 3 upwards).

Experience a full day of masterclasses, ensemble playing, and lively group discussions, led by a friendly, specialist team of Chetham’s tutors, students, and professional musicians.

From 10am – 4pm, the action-packed day will include classes for each instrument. Learn top tips on solo repertoire, technique, chamber music and get the chance to play in massed woodwind choirs.

Suitable for players of the following instruments: Clarinet, Saxophone, Recorder, Oboe, Flute, Bassoon.

Chris Orton,  Recorder

Recorder player, Dalcroze Eurhythmics teacher and conductor, currently running the recorder departments at the Junior and Senior Schools of the Royal Northern College of Music and Chetham’s School of Music.

Olivier Stankiewicz, Oboe

Principal oboe of the London Symphony Orchestra, artist in residence at the Wigmore Hall for 2024-2025, and previously performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the French National Orchestra.

Sarah Bennett, Flute

Principal flute no.2 of the Hallé Orchestra and an established DJ.

Angharad Thomas, Bassoon

Principal bassoon no.2 of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
