Exam results at Chetham’s are consistently excellent.  Many students take Music exams one year early, in Year 10 and Year 12, and some also sit Maths and Language exams early, depending on the ability of the individual student and the year group as a whole.  For this reason, numbers and grade distributions can vary year by year.

Around one third of the school day at Chetham’s is committed to music, and for this reason students may take fewer academic subjects than in other schools.  However, excellent teaching and facilities, and small class sizes help to ensure that their grades in these subjects remain outstanding and are more than sufficient to support their future plans – whether musical or academic.

As with all schools nationwide, A Level Results for 2022 were graded through the standard examination assessments seen pre-2020. Since it was not possible for most students to sit in-person exams for 2020 and 2021, the results for 2022 reflect these circumstantial differences.
