Packed with historical facts and fascinating stories, tours of Chetham’s Library are led by our expert staff and volunteers. Explore the medieval building, hear about the magical Dr. Dee, admire the Hogwarts-esque gated shelves of the library and take a seat at the very alcove where Marx and Engels’ research led to The Communist Manifesto!
Tours last 60-75 minutes long.
We ask for all visitors to read the Visiting Information before booking tickets, for information about visiting and accessibility.
Visitors will not be admitted more than 15 minutes after the tour has begun. If possible, please call the Library to inform them of your delay.
Tour dates are available up to 6 weeks in advance, for dates beyond that, please visit this site again 6 weeks before your chosen date.
All proceeds go towards the upkeep of Chetham’s Library and the collection.
