Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra: Petrushka
- Friday 18 October 2019 - 7.30pm
- The Stoller Hall
- £19.62, £16.35, £10.90
Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra give their first concert of the 2019-20 School year, with new students replacing those who have left the School for higher education at conservatoires and universities. Chetham’s alumnus Paul Mann – former Assistant Conductor of the LSO, and noted for his musicality, versatility and breadth of repertoire – conducts the ensemble in Petrushka, Stravinsky’s ballet burlesque, animating the lives and loves of a puppet trio and the revelry of Mardi Gras.
Preceding the symphony will be a concerto featuring one of the winners of Chetham’s 2019 Concerto Auditions, whose solo performance will be selected by a panel of professional judges in February and announced shortly afterwards; and Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphoses, begun as an arrangement for ballet and developed into a more complex and contrasting symphonic work.
