Chetham’s Big Band
The Stoller HallA matinee show from Chetham’s Big Band and jazz ensembles.
Featuring: Chris Montague – Guitar / Kit Downes – Piano / Ruth Goller – Bass
“Very, very original and something that’s really touched me recently since it came out… It’s such an unusual and exceptional record this one…a real piece of immense beauty” – Jamie Cullum, BBC Radio 2
Chris Montague is widely recognised as a guitarist and composer. He has built a reputation for his distinctive approach to the guitar and gained much acclaim for his contribution to many contemporary recordings.
Warmer Than Blood is Montague’s new venture. It brings together pianist and ECM recording artist Kit Downes and renowned electric bassist Ruth Goller (Acoustic Ladyland, Melt Yourself Down, Let Spin) for a ground-breaking exploration of Chris’ compositions.
While Chris’ reputation as a startlingly original composer is already well established, not least through his long-standing collaboration with Downes in the Troyka project, their eponymous release marks the first in Chris’ extensive discography to be entirely under his leadership.
In partnership with NQ Jazz and The Yard. Made possible by Arts Council England’s Supporting Grassroots Live Music fund.
Please note: When attending in-person events please allow at least 30 minutes prior to the start time to be seated in a safe and socially distanced way ready for the performance.
