Acclaimed British violinist, Jennifer Pike performs in the opening night of the Manchester Chamber Concerts Society’s 2023-24 season featuring pianist & MCCS’ artistic director, Martin Roscoe. They perform well loved pieces by Beethoven (The Spring Sonata) and Grieg alongside Boulanger, Bacewicz and Jeremy Pike.

About Jennifer Pike

Renowned for her unique artistry and compelling insight into music from the Baroque to the present day, Jennifer Pike has established herself as one of today’s most exciting instrumentalists.

Jennifer Pike first gained international recognition in 2002, when aged 12, she became the youngest-ever winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year and the youngest major prizewinner in the Menuhin International Violin Competition. Aged 15 she made acclaimed debuts at the BBC Proms and Wigmore Hall, and her many subsequent Proms appearances include being a ‘featured artist’ in 2009. She was invited to become a BBC New Generation Artist (2008-10), won the inaugural International London Music Masters Award and became the only classical artist ever to win the South Bank Show/Times Breakthrough Award.

Recent invitations include her debut with the St Louis Symphony and returns to the BBC Symphony, St Petersburg Symphony, Aurora Orchestra, and Rheinische Philharmonie. Jennifer also performs The Lark Ascending in its original version, recreating the work’s premiere 100 years later, and her latest disc for Chandos, The Polish Violin Vol. 2 was described as “revelatory”, “magical” and “dazzlingly playful”, “just as ravishing as its predecessor”.

“A performer with that elusive gift of being able to communicate not just the dots and squiggles on the page, but to reach right into the heart of the music she plays.” – Music Web International on Jennifer Pike
