There have been other triumphs and individual successes during the past academic year that are also worth highlighting. Students with special educational needs have smashed through barriers to complete their courses. Everyone has given back to the community by performing in care homes, other schools, trains stations and more places. We’ve also seen students win competitions, be shortlisted for BBC Young Musician of the Year, write their own compositions, travel the world, and perform at iconic music venues in front of huge audiences….
Joint Principal, Nicola Smith said: ‘We are incredibly proud of all our brilliant and hardworking students for giving it their best. They have achieved outstanding academic results on top of music-making and we look forward to seeing them take their next steps and no doubt thrive across the musical world and beyond. They now join a wonderful community of Chetham’s alumni that includes professional musicians, actors, neuroscientists, politicians, journalists and more.
“It goes without saying that we are also incredibly proud of our teachers. They are absolutely committed to educating the next generation of world-class musicians and thinkers and equipping students with the skills they need to make a success of their adult lives, whatever they may choose to do. At Chetham’s, we wholeheartedly believe in the power of music to unite people, and this makes our school a truly unique and inspirational places to live, learn and make connections.”
We all wish our students luck and good wishes for the next part of their journey. Congratulations, class of 2023!
