Part of our Sounds of Nature programme

Discover some of the UK’s most incredible young musicians, as Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra perform in the tailor-made setting of The Stoller Hall.

Chetham’s young performers are on the cusp of a professional music career, with many likely to go on to populate the world’s leading orchestras. Here, they will perform pieces by Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff, conducted by Jonathan Bloxham. The concert is a precursor to The Stoller Hall’s year-long Sounds of Nature events programme, with a performance of African Sunrise / Manhattan Rave, by Manchester born composer and flautist David Heath.

The concert also features debut solo performances by percussion student Sophie and pianist Rebekah. Sophie is one of the UK’s most exciting and promising young percussionists, and is following in the footsteps of Chetham’s last percussion starlet Fang Zhang, who won the BBC Young Musician Award in 2020/21. Rebekah, an exceptionally gifted rising piano star, hails from China, and has travelled from Shanghai to continue her musical education at Chetham’s.
