Chetham’s International Piano Summer School Honoured with Legacy Award
Chetham’s International Piano Summer School (CIPSS) is thrilled to announce it has been named the recipient of the prestigious Legacy Award by the annual Awards for Piano Music in Education.
This landmark accolade recognises the institution’s decades-long commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and the promotion of piano pedagogy on a global scale.
The award was presented to founders Murray McLachlan and Kathryn Page during a ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall on 12 May.
Since its inception 25 years ago, CIPSS has grown into the largest piano summer school of its kind, creating a unique event where burgeoning pianists and world-class professionals collaborate.
Hosted by Chetham’s School of Music within its unique campus, there are opportunities to explore composition, theory, analysis, jazz, improvisation, harpsichord, organ, and piano.
The Legacy Award highlights the “profound and lasting impact” the program has had on the international music community, citing its ability to adapt to a changing educational landscape while maintaining the highest artistic standards.
