Daniel Springate is a Cello Tutor and Lower Strings Practice Assistant at Chetham’s School of Music. He read music at the University of Manchester before continuing his studies with a post-graduate performance degree at Trinity Laban, where he learnt with Joely Koos. He is passionate about music education and also teaches the cello at Olympias Music Foundation and Wigan Music Service.
Daniel enjoys an eclectic performance career, with some of his favourite experiences including playing in the band for Disney’s touring production of Beauty and the Beast on the West End, playing in the Co-Op Live Arena with Manchester Camerata and recording music at Real World and Abbey Road studios. Comfortable outside the classical realms, he is one half of folk-adjacent string duo Hafren and enjoys playing bass guitar for jazz and pop artists. As well as performing, he composes string arrangements for popular music artists, and co-founded Bothy, an organisation that facilitates freelance chamber music in Manchester.
